Sandwich Point Battery which is also know as Sandwich Battery, is one of the outer batteries defending the approaches to Halifax Harbour.  Sandwich Point Battery was constructed about the same time as the Battery at Fort McNab, 1895.  It mounted two 9.2-inch Mark X BL guns on Mark V mounts and two 6-inch BL Mark VII guns,  The fire control (Battery Command) was located at Spion Cop, some seven hundred yards to the North.  The Mark X guns on a Mark V mount is the same as Breakneck Battery in Gibraltar where both the gun and mount survive in place.

This was one of the last batteries built by the British and it was handed over the to he Canadian Government in 1906 and remained active until 1943.
