Abbs Point Battery was a coast defence battery built between 1859 and 1860 to mount three smoothbore guns. It is assumed that these were 32-pdr or 68-pdr guns. The Battery had barracks for nine men. In 1887 these were upgraded to three 64-pdr RML guns although acknowledge at the time as being obsolete. These RML guns were removed by 1902. The Battery was demolished shortly before World War II.
