Bouldnor Battery was built between 1937 and 1938 to mount two 6-inch Mark VII BL guns. The two guns were mounted in partially covered shelters and the road approach to the site was protected by a pillbox. The magazines are underground below the guns, and ammunition is supplied to the guns by lifts.
Two Defence Electric Lights were built on the foreshore to the front of the battery. The battery was only active until December 1942 so had a very limited life span.
In 1951 the Battery was reactivated with two 6-inch guns moved from Cliffe End Battery, but was finally closed in 1957.
