Point Pleasant Engine Room was built underground in a man made ridge behind Point Pleasant Battery. It is believed that this was probably built at the same time (1877) as the underground engine room at York Redoubt. It is suspected that the Test Room was in the same casemates. Plans from 1897 show this Engine Room provided power for the Submarine Mining Operations and specifically for the two Defence Electric Lights located nearby. (TNA WO 78/4290). The engine room is show as having two boilers and two engines with adjoining coal store.
