Magazine Island Battery , Townsville, Australia was built on an rocky island, then standing off Townsville.  The Island was used to supply rock to build the breakwater, and this delayed construction of the battery in 1890.  By August 1891 the two 6-inch BL guns were being installed.  These guns were removed in 1901 with two 4.7-inch Mark IV guns intended to replace them.  These new guns would not be installed for about six years. One of the old 6-inch guns was sent to Brisbane and this gun is now on display at Fort Lytton.

Magazine Island Battery was built to work in conjunction with Kissing Point Battery.

Magazine Island Battery has been completed lost to development.  The post card image shows the harbour area with Magazine Island the rocky outcrop in the right background, overlooking the wharf.
