Kissing Point Battery, Townsville, Australia was completed on 26th August 1891 and designed to mount two 6-inch BL guns. These guns were installed in 1892, to be replaced in 1936 with two 4.7-inch guns.
The batter had two gun pits with an underground magazine between them. The BCP was above the magazine and there was a DRF post on each flank.
Kissing Point Battery chad been suggested in 1882 to mount two 64-pdr RML guns. Another battery was built on Magazine Island Battery to work in conjunction with Kissing Point Battery.
