Upper North 6-inch Battery

Upper North Battery was initially the position for a pair of 9-inch RML guns.  In 1904 a pair of 6-inch QF guns was mounted here.  One of the old 9-inch RML positions was built over, while the second 6-inch gun was built higher up the hill.  The 9-inch RML emplacement survives until this day.  In 1904 work also commenced on Scala Battery, with the B or Number 2 gun emplacement under construction.
