Scratchells Position Finding Cell was approved on February 21st 1894 with work commencing three days later. The cell was completed by the 26th May, 1894 at a total cost of £47, some £3 under the budget. It was designated a Postion Finding Station No. V.
As a transmitting cell this is is small, semi-buried structure much like an observation post with only 1 foot and 6-inch above the ground. The interior is only 3 feet and 3 inches wide, and some 5 feet 6 inches deep with a small table under the semicirclular observation slit.
This is shown as a transmitting cell, and was part of A Group for Hurst Castle.
