No Man Land Fort was built between 1865 and 1880 and was similar in design to Hose Sand Fort. No Man’s Land Fort has two floor of gun casemates originally intended to hold a total of twenty four 10-inch RML guns on the lower floor and twenty five 9-inch RML on the second floor. It was also proposed to have five turrets on the roof, each holding two 12.5-inch RML guns. IN 1871 while still being built, the armament was amended to fifteen 12.5-inch RML and thirty four 10-inch RML. In 1874 this was further amended to twenty four 12.5-inch RML on the lower floor and twenty five 10-inch RML on the upper floor. By 1886 the actual armament mounted was twelve 12.5-inch RML and twelve 10-inch RML, half the number of guns in 1874.
In 1893 there was a major changed in the armament with the following mounted in the casemates, eight 12-inch BL guns (with special Yoke mountings), two 12.5-inch RML guns, and twenty 6-pdr Q.F.
In 1904 a 4.7-inch Q.F. gun was mounted on the roof.
In 1908 three 6-inch Mark VII BL guns have been mounted on the roof with the two 12.5-inch RML and eight 12-inch BL still mounted but in reserve. The 6-pdrs all appear to have been removed. By 1925 the armament had been reduced to two 6-inch BL guns.
