Buona Vista Position Finding Station is shown as being Station Number XI. The Position Finding Station was authorised in May 1892 and construction started on 4th July 1892. The work was completed on 20th August, 1892 and cost £137, some £93 under budget.
This is a somewhat unusual Position Finding Station in that it was three cells, made of wood with a zinc roof, that was built on the roof of an existing building. There were three partitioned areas within the roof top extension, creating three position finding cells. It is assumed that Buona Vista Position Finding Station serviced Puckpool Battery.
It would appear that Buona Vista Position Finding Station has survived, at least externally. Images in The Nation Archives document WO/78 4249 clearly shows that the station can still be seen on top of what was Buno Vista House, now known as the Esplanade, Ryde, PO33 2DZ a residential home.
