Middle Barton Position Finding Station

Middle Barton Position Finding Station was built immediately to the west of Penlee Battery.  The Position Finding Station had nine cells and was built by 1894.  During World War I at least four of the cells were utilised for fire control.  The above surface part of the cells have been demolished, but it is believed that the floors of the cells survive, possibly with some of the pedestals.  The site is now covered in rubble and dense bush.  Satellite images clearly show the footprint of this Position Finding Station.
