Battery Jewell is one of the five coastal defence batteries built at Fort Wint, on Grande Island by the United States between 1907 and 1910.

Battery Jewell had four 12-pdr (3-pdr) Quick Fire Guns to deal with lighter but faster moving enemy vessels such as Motor Torpedo Boats.  One of the cone mounts can still be seen in one of the gun pits.  Of similar design to Battery Flake, also on Grande Island.
