Xemzija Bay Strong Point is situated on the South shore of Bay and may well have been a defence position dating back to 1900. The rock cut trenches and machine gun position resemble those found on Wardija Hill and Mellieha Ridge defence positions.
Xemzija Bay Strong Point has a zig zag rock cut trench, with old access steps from the East side. There are are also two crew shelters (magazine) caves, one of which has an ammunition recess. This may well be the original defence point built about 1900 by the British. It is apparent that the roof of the Observation Bunker has had an additional layer of concrete added. It is possible that the Machine Gun Pillbox, which lies some 80 Metres to the East, was also an earlier defence emplacement.
