Ta Betta Tower

Ta Betta Toweris a two story farm building that has had the roof converted into a fighting position during 1941.  At least five village towers were converted to be defence positions in the event of a airborne assault on Malta.  Each of these towers followed a similar layout with firing positions on each of the corners.  The firing positions were roofed over but the firing aperture was wide and high, not a loophole.  In the longer side of the wall there tended to be a further aperture for rifle and Bren Gun fire.

Ta Betta Tower is on the roof of an old farm building, basically on the third floor.  Access is by external open stone steps set in the stone blocks.  The position has covered fighting positions on each corner and a small fighting position on the longer wall.
