Reserve Defence Post R1 is situation on the edge of a cliff overlooking the road that leads inland from Gnejna Bay. It a second generation two storey pillbox with an tower on the West side.
There is a contemporary concrete building adjacent to the pillbox with two rooms, possibly a kitchen and sleeping area. These annex structures were added to some other Defence Posts where they did not interfere with fields of fire.
