Luqa Airfield Pillbox 3 is one of the numerous pillboxes built around Luqa airfield to defence the location from airborne assault. After the fall of Crete the British anticipated a similar airborne assault on the key points and airfields of Malta.

This is a rectangular pillbox that lies of the South -West end of the runway. The pillbox is built on a raised platform, and the concrete has been covered with local stone to help disguise it. It is believed to have two machine gun emplacements facing towards the airfield. The whole position is heavily overgrown with bushes and cactus.
