Luqa Airport was a major strategic airbase and was heavily attacked by the German and Italian (Axis) Air Forces between 1941 and 1943. In the event of an Axis invasion of Malta, which was expected in 1941 to 1942, it was believed that Luqa Airport would be a key target for attacking airborne forces. The British and Commonwealth troops, assisted by Maltese contractors, built a number of pillbox intended to defend the airfield from any such Axis Airborne attack.

The Google Maps below shows the location of the identified airfield defence pillboxes built around Luqa Airfield in 1941 to 1943. Pillbox 11 has been destroyed.

Thanks for this. Are you using the survey on the SCH website by Battlefront Malta for these sites? If not, what source?
I have used it to double check that I have found most things. There are somethings on this site that are not on the SCH site.
