Listing Type : Malta Pillboxes
Location : Malta

The Machicolation Pillbox  is located on the junction of San Salvatore Bastion and Saint Sebastian Curtain.  This could have originally been built by the British in 1854 based on plans in the National Archives. As can be seen from the images one of the original musketry loopholes still survives.

During World War 2 it was adapted as a machine gun pillbox with wider loopholes.  This Pillbox lies a short distance from Machicolation position at the junction of German Curtain and St Sebastian Curtain.  It is believed that the machicolation above the sally port at St Gregorys Bastion, Lower St Elmo, was built at the same time.
