Beach Defence Post RA1 is situated on a headland overlooking Fort Rinella. The building is a single storey pillbox, with the observation tower on the West face. There are unusually, two machine gun tables in this pillbox, both facing West. A small extension has been built onto the side of the Defence Post to mount an additional machine gun. The Lyon Light site can still be seen, but the structure has been lost to the sea. The observation tower has also been battered away by sea action.
