Kilcredaun Point Battery was located on the North Shore of the Shannon Estuary at a point where the channel was two miles wide. The Battery covered the deep water channel near the North shore. The Battery bears a date stone on 1814. It was armed with six 24-pdr SB guns on traversing carriages. The layout was consistent with the general design of coast defence batteries on the Shannon Estuary during the Napoleonic Wars. Initially armed with six 24-pdr SB guns it is assumed this was upgraded to 68-pdr SB guns in the early Victorian period.
The defensible barracks at Kilcredaun Battery are in good condition but the ramparts and ditch have largely been lost. The stones in the retaining walls have been removed for building elsewhere, allowing the earth to collapse.
