Newcastle Camp

Newcastle Camp was established by the British Army with effect from 1841.  The higher altitude in the Blue Mountains reduced the incidence of yellow fever and malaria amongst the troops and was therefore popular with British troops stationed in Jamaica.

The camp is now used by the Jamaican Defence Forces.
