Listing Type : Coastal Battery
Location : Hong Kong

Fly Point Battery was constructed 200 yards south-west of Upper Belchers Battery between 1886 and 1890 at a cost of £3083.  The magazine held 200 cartridges, and the battery mounted a single 10-inch B.L. There was no crew accommodation.

There was a Maxim Machine Gun position built at the rear of the battery overlooking Pok Fu Lam Road and a DRF pedestal adjacent to this.

The gun remained active until 1912, the carriage was upgraded in about 1905.  The site has now been totally lost to development.

The other 10-inch BL gun batteries in Hong Kong of this era were:

  • Stoncutters West Battery
  • Stonecutters East Battery
  • Upper Belchers Battery
