Spion Kop Position Finding Station is situated about three hundred meters to the East of York Redoubt. It has not been able to located any primary documentation in respect of this Position Finding Station but it is assumed that they were built about the same time as the three cells at Fort McNab (1900). The structures have been protected from the elements by wooden hoarding. The design and structure of these Cells is consistent with that found at other locations throughout the British Empire from 1890 to 1905.
In many of the cells, one or more of the legs holding the plotting table have survived.
