Listing Type : Coast Defence Battery
Location : Canada
Strawberry Battery was built between 1939 and 1940 and was a replacement for the Hugonin Battery, also on McNab’s Island. Similar to Hugonin Battery, Strawberry Battery mounted a pair of 12-pdr Q.F. in barbette concrete emplacements. The rear of the battery includes crew accommodation, magazines, battery command post and offices. At the front of the battery there are three fairly unique Defence Electric Lights with access down iron ladders.
Although of of period, Strawbery Battery was armed with guns redeployed from Hugonin Battery, and it does have most unusual Defence Electric Light Emplacements.
