The Strawberry Battery DELs are located just below the main battery with four Defence Electric Lights in unusual emplacements. Access is from the rear and requires the operators to climb down about two storeys by metal ladder until they reach the searchlight emplacement. As far as we can establish these are fairly unique construction adapted for Canadian conditions. The DELs were constructed in the run up to 1939.
