Martins Position Finding Station was sometime referred to as Mediterranean P.F.S. because it was located next to Mediterranean Battery. Cave Position Finding Cell, built between 1903 and 1905 was amalgamated into this PFS when built and became Cell VII of Martin Position Finding Station.
Martin Position Finding Station was approved on 11th December 1895 and work commenced on the same day. The building was completed on the 31st August 1897 for a total cost of £402. The Martin Position Finding Station was composed of six cells. Cell V was the Fire Commands Post with four cells (I to IV inclusive) lying to its’ front. Cell Number VI lay above and behind the Fire Commands Post. Cave Position Finding Cell was on a ledge below and to the front of Cell I.
