Halfway Battery was named because it lay halfway between the three Europa Batteries and the four Europa Advance Batteries. As with the other Europa Advance Batteries it was only armed with two 32-pdr SB guns and never appears to have been upgraded. The guns were mounted behind a low parapet wall.
A Defence Electric Light was later mounted on the site of the battery and this building still stands. For more background information on Defence Electric Lights click here.
