The Devil Group of Position Finding Cells was built below the Number 1 and Number 2 Cells of the Angel Position Finding Station. Work commenced on the two cells on the 12th November 1896 and the work was completed on the 31st August, 1898. The total cost of construction was £161. There was a small water catchment between the two cells with a storage capacity of 280 gallons.

During World War Two the Devil Number 2 Position Finding Cell was used as a searchlight emplacement. The actual searchlight was stored in a cave cut out of the rock to the rear of the cell position. The Number 1 Cell survives but is in a poor state of repair.
Devil I was originally used to serve Alexandra Battery but later it was used to provide information for Spy Glass Battery.
Devil 2 was used for Napier of Magdalena Battery (100 ton gun)
