Duncannon North Martello Tower was built on the ridge over looking Duncannon Fort. Together with Duncannon South Martello Tower is provides some defence against any hostile attack from the land front. The Martello Tower was decommissioned in 1837 according to recent sales material when the property was on the market. Indications are that this tower had fallen into disuse by the second half of the 19th Century although it may have been used as barracks. Duncannon North Martello lies some 950 metres to the North East of Fort Duncannon, and some 500 metres from Duncannon South Martello.
