St Mawes Submarine Mining Observation Station is believed to have been built about 1900 as part of the 12-pdr Battery above St Mawes Castle. This single cell in below ground level, with an armoured metal roof. The submarine minefield lay between St Mawes and Pendennis Castle, but the observation position on the opposite site has been lost.
