No. 2 (Carrick Mount) Bastion 12-pdr Q.F. Battery was built in 1901 to help protect the Submarine Mine Field. It was almost identical in design to the 12-pdr Battery on Number 3 Bastion with two two 12-pdr gun pits and the magazine underground to the rear between the two guns.
