Signal Hill Battery was built between 1903 and 1906, although the guns were probably not mounted until 1907. The battery mounted two 9.2-inch BL Mark X gun on Mark V barbette mountings and was at that time the only counter-bombardment battery in Esquimalt.
As can be seen from the images, the A gun emplacement can clearly be viewed by the B gun emplacement had a wooden roof bult over it in 1938 which is now collapsing and makes the area unsafe to enter.
