Brothers Island Battery was one of the temporary batteries built in 1878 and mounted three guns. A single 9-inch 6.5 ton RML on a iron naval carriage and two 64-pdr RML guns of 64 cwt on wooden trucks. The 8-inch gun was mounted to cover the approached to the harbour, the 64-pdr guns were mounted with one facing toward Macaulay Point Battery and the other facing toward the harbour entrance. The magazine was again of cut and cover construction built to the rear of the 8-inch gun emplacement.
It is thought little if anything remains of this battery at this time.
