Albert Head Battery was built in 1938 to mount three 9.2-inch BL guns. Two of these guns were moved from Signal Hill Battery, which then became redundant. The third gun was despatched to Canada from the United Kingdom in about 1943.
The Albert Head Battery was constructed in a rush and steel plate was used extensively for the overhead protection. The battery had the standard underground magazines and shelters. It remained operational until about 1956 but is still a military site.
This battery is out of period for this study, but the guns were moved from Signal Hill Battery and the site is not well represented because it is in military hands.
