Martello Tower No.7 South Dublin is in a flanking position and has been restored. The Martello Tower was built between 1804 and 1805 and has a restored 18-pdr SB gun on wooden traversing carriage on the roof. At the front of the tower, overlooking the gun battery, is a fan shaped musketry caponier with loopholes. There was originally a gun battery in front of the Martello Tower with three barbette emplacements. A number of out-buildings were also built adjacent including a magazine, gunners cottage, artillery store, stables and store room. It can therefore be assumed that this was a major defence position to support the other Martello Towers in the area.
