South Front Battery was built on cutting immediately below the Officers Mess building in the Citadel, Western Heights. The Battery has been completely lost above ground.
South Front Battery was built between 1902 and 1903 to mount three 6-inch BL Mark VII guns. The battery appears to have had the guns removed in about 1909 and was subsequently demolished.
