Shotyard Battery, Dover Castle

Built in 1886 this battery mounted two 10-inch Rifled Muzzle Loading guns in two separate pits covering the harbour.  The guns remained in position until at least the end of the century.  There was a cartridge store and shell store the traverse between the two guns, and a similar store built into the hill by the B Gun (see entrance on left in image).
