Ouvrage D, Orangea Front

Overage D or Le Fort d’ Ankorika is part of the defence line protecting the Orangea Peninsular.  Built in 1898 this Ouvrage mounted two 95 mm guns but these were mounted in barbette mounts, not Casemates de Bourges.  The fortification is almost ‘T’ shaped with a narrow neck and large front containing three bunkers.  This unusual shape was chosen to take advantage of the steep and rocky terrain.
