La Batteries du Cap Miné (Cap Mine Battery) was built as a Batterie de Rupture in 1898. This coastal defence battery was concealed in dead ground just before the sea passage opened out into Diego Suarez Bay. It was intend as a final defence to any large hostile vessel. Cap Mine Battery was armed with four 320 mm guns in a casemated position firing in a broadside as a target presented itself. The four guns remain in position with the small embrasures now bricked up.
Three emplacements for Anti Aircraft guns were later built on the roof the of the battery.
