La Batterie de la Baie du Courrier (Courrier Bay Battery) was built in 1942, outside the scope of this study but nevertheless included because of the sites historic interest.
Courrier Bay Battery mounted four old 138mm guns on modern mounts. With a range of 10,000 metres, they were regarded as sufficient to stop any amphibious landing on Courrier Beach. The Battery includes four gun pits, connected by a trenches, two magazines and a Battery Command Post.
The site is of historical interest because Allied Troops landed here early on the morning of 5th 1942. Commandos surprised the troops in the battery and captured it before they could man the guns.
