North Battery was approved for construction on 3rd January 1899 and work commences on the site 20th January 1899. The Battery was completed on the 4th September 1900 at a total cost of £5,688.15, only £64 over budget. The Battery was armed with two 6-inch Mark VII BL guns on Mark II pedestal mounts.
The cartridge magazines, which was underground between the two gun pits, one side serving each gun. The corridor outside the cartridge store was used for shells. There was a separate ladder lift for shells and a cartridge lift, direct to each gun pit.
There was a lamp room and Royal Artillery store adjacent to the magazine. There was a crew shelter in the gorge of the battery.
This battery survives complete but is in a dangerous state of repair and the military have closed it off.
