The Minefield Battery at Fort Camden was built on a small knoll between the Lower Left and Lower Right Batteries. Authority to built the battery was given on the 24th January 1890 and work commenced on the 9th June 1890. Minefield Battery was completed on the 31st March 1891 having cost £964, some £139 over budget. The battery mounted three 6-pdr Quick Fire gun in barbette positions, separated by traverses. A small underground magazine was built behind the most Southerly gun position.
