The H2 9.2-inch gun emplacement lies in the Middle of Apostle Battery, between H1 and H3. The gun emplacement has two 6-inch Mark XIX emplacements on either side of it. These two 6-inch guns were installed in 1940 as an Emergency Battery while the 9.2-inch Battery was being constructed. The 6-inch Battery was designated as the counter bombardment battery until two of the 9.2-inch guns were available in September 1943. The 9.2-inch guns for the battery arrived in dribs and drabs as the priority at this time was the fighting in North Africa.
