Split Rock Battery mounted two 7-inch RML guns in two separate barbette emplacements. The cartridge and shell magazines were underground to the rear of these emplacements. Both the guns lie in their original pits and the magazines remain in good condition.
During World War 2 a Bofors and UP Rocket was mounted here and Nissan Huts built in the gorge of the battery.
