Garden Battery was originally built with two 7-inch RML guns in barbette mounts. There was the usual two magazines, one shell and one catrdige. During World War 2 a 6-inch gun emplacement was built over the ‘B’ 7-inch RML gun position and this was lost along with the two magazines. A single 7-inch RML gun now lies on the ground behind the 6-inch position and it is possible the other gun remains under the 6-inch Battery site. The ‘A’ 6-inch gun site retains part of the roof made up of steel and concrete tiles on an iron framework.
