Lighthouse Battery was built in the 1860s to mount three 7-inch RML guns on disappearing carriages.
This battery has two of the 7-inch guns located in Moncrief Pits next to each other, with an earth covered magazine to the rear. The original 7-inch RML guns for these emplacements lie on the ground to the rear.
The third gun pit is about 60 metres to the West of these two guns. The 7-inch gun for this emplacement lies on the lip of the gun pit.
