Elephanta Island Battery is also known as Cannon Hill Battery. The battery was built in about 1907 and mounted two 7.5-inch BL guns in barbette mounts. Both guns bear the cipher of King Edward IV. The two 7.5-inch guns are situated over 200 metres apart and therefore have their own underground works including magazine. The use of 7.5-inch BL guns by the British was unusual.
