Lonehort Observing Station is located just to the east of Lonehort Battery. This is a solitary observation post located about 100 meters outside the perimeter ditch of the Battery. The post would appear to have had steel shutters a contemporary maps would indicate that it was a search light directing station and observing station. The position gives a good view of the eastern approaches to Berehaven Fleet Anchorage. Given it location, it was probably the primary directing station for Ardanagh East DEL position which also had a Secondary Directing Station.
