Ras El Burg Battery is located at 550 feet (168 metres) and sits above Durabl El Hosh Battery. It is shown a having a single 24-pdr SB gun in a Barbette position on a D pivot and flat racer in the 1880. It is assumed that this is the gun originally mounted in the 1840s by the British East India Company. The battery is some 200 feet above Bell’s Battery and can cover the North, West and South approaches to the Munssoorie Ridgeline. There is a small gateway adjacent to the battery which covers the path that leads to the High Munssoorie Battery.
This structure was possibly built by the Turks as a castle and was subsequently adapted by the British as an infantry defence position with artillery.
