Bells Battery is located at 350 feet (107 Meters) on the top of a conical hill to the South of the Main Pass leading giving access to Crater. The Battery has a masonry parapet some 4 feet to 6 feet high. Bell’s Battery includes within its’ wall a guard room and small magazine.
The Battery was armed with three 24-pdr SB guns, two facing West and one facing East. There were originally four 24-pdr emplacements two on B pivots and two on C pivot with flat racers.
There are stairs leading down to the loopholed footbridge that spanned the pass, which has now been destroyed. This old walkway was some 70 feet above the pass itself and allowed soldiers to engage enemy forces out beyond the main gate and defence line at the pass. This walkway leads further up the hill to the North, eventually leading to Durabl Hosh EL Battery, and a junction path leading to Ras El Burgh Battery.
